Experience Exotic Vietnam on your honeymoon

There are many exotic honeymoon destinations in the world, but none more than Vietnam.  Vietnam has become known as one of the world's most fascinating and romantic destinations in Asia. With pristine landscapes, alluring cultures, and incredible hospitality, it's no wonder you can expect to have the ulitmate honeymoon.

We'll start your honeymoon in northern part of Vietnam in the city known as Hanoi. This 1,000 year old city promises to offer you history and tradition.  Hanoi's present architecture is mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries, and the stately French-built section of town is largely intact. Hanoi is cleaner, leafier, and quieter than other big cities in Vietnam — in a word, it's "cooler." You will most likely be exhausted after your lengthy flights, but there are a great deal of sites to see and do in this wonderful Vietnamese city. Hanoi's street life is fascinating. In the morning, you may see tai chi practitioners, martial arts exponents, badminton players, and joggers along Hoan Kiem Lake. Bicyclists wearing berets ride past with baguettes tucked into their baskets. Strolling through the old French sector, you can find a street occupied by outdoor barbers clipping their customers in front of mirrors hung off building walls. On Trang Tien Street there's a beautician at work: a woman with a flashlight mounted on her head, cleaning a customer's ears. At street corners in the Old Quarter, men with green pith helmets chat over steaming bowls of noodles. Farther along the street, women sell fresh-cut flowers from the backs of bicycles.

Bicycle or stroll around Hoan Kiem, or the Lake of the Restored Sword as thousands of Hanoians do on weekends. At the crack of dawn locals assemble on the thin parkland perimeter for an hour or so of tai chi, jogging, or badminton. There is a legend from the 15th century that a a humble fisherman named Le Loi asked the heavens for help in resisting the Ming dynasty Chinese who occupied the north. A golden turtle from the lake then brought him a magic sword that flashed like lightning. After leading at insurrection against the Chinese, Le Loi returned to the lake, and the turtle reclaimed the sword.

At the northern end of Hoan Kiem is Ngoc Son Temple, reached by the bright red Sunbeam Bridge, an arched Chinese-style wood en structure built in 1855. Before crossing the bridge you pass Penbrush and Inkslab towers built in 1864 to commemorate the learned school at Nguyen Van Sieu. Ngoc Son Temple is a mixture of temples and gift shops, and is the desired place for Vietnamese to have their pictures taken. Built in the early 19th century, it has undergone a few renovations, most recently in 1994. The temple honors several Vietnamese icons, including Van Xuong, the god of literature; Quan Vu, a martial arts exponent; physician La To; and 13th-century hero Tran Hung Dao. At the back of the shrine is the preserved body of a huge turtle found in the lake in 1968. It weighed 552 pounds and was believed to be 400 years old-some say 500 years old, to make it old enough to serve as the turtle of legend. On an islet at the south end of the lake is a dilapidated three-tiered tower, built in honor of the valiant turtle. Turtles are occasionally still sighted in the lake. On the west bank there is a small temple with a statue of Le Loi.

A stroll through Hanoi's happily chaotic Old Quarter will quickly put to rest the conception that the city is gray, dull, and reserved. In the middle of the Old Quarter you will fine a commerce in trade and handicrafts. The place is full of character and characters. You might come across a woman strolling down a street with a shoulder pole of dual baskets of porcelain, an old woman who reveals blackened teeth when she smiles, or a group of men crouched over bamboo bongs at tiny sidewalk stools. The quarter is a medieval maze of alleys lined with shops, homes, and cafes. It's best to tackle the area on foot, make sure to bring comfortable shoes, allowing time to stop and poke around. Unfortunately, the sidewalks are often blocked by parked motorcycles, the narrow roads filled with bicycles and motorbikes. Just a note of caution when walking around the Old Quarter, sidewalks can be uneven with gravel and other hazards.

One of the most popular attractions in Hanoi is water puppetry. This magical art form is intended for children but will amaze adults as well. Unique to Vietnam, it's seen regularly only in the north. The exact origins of water puppetry are uncertain, but it's known the Red River Delta area nurtured and preserved this traditional theater over many centuries. What goes on under the water is closely guarded secret some puppeteers have t swim under other puppeteers. Water plays a key part in the show-the surface of the water is flaring with a naval battle, or romantically calm when a group of fairies float across. Underwater fireworks bring flashing dragons to life and furnish a haze of smoke for mythical settings. Puppeteers and percussionists provide explosive sound effects-rhythmic mush and zany sound effects maintain the tempo.

Obiviously there is much more to Hanoi, such ashaving brunch while cruising along Halong Bay, visiting Ho  Chi Minh Mausoleum, and make sure you don't miss visiting Bai Tu Long Bay, Coc Island, Cap De Island, Bo Cau Island, Vong Vieng fishing village,Trong Cave,Ho Dong Tien Cave,

Let's explore the southern area of Vietnam known as Ho Chi Minh City, formally known as Saigon. You can either enjoy this historic city tour takes in the most popular attractions for a wholesome Vietnam holiday plan, including the Reunification Palace, Jade Emperor Pagoda, Notre Dame Cathedral and Thien Hau Pagoda. Take a short shopping trip to Ben Thanh Market. This market is one of earliest surviving structures in the city. You'll be able to find local handmade crafts, textiles, and local cuisine.  The perfect way to end your day in this amazing city is to take a break at a nearby cafe watching local folks coming and going. Softly with the music, your heart gets under old Saigon's magical spell.

One of the most historic sites located just outside the city is the remainder of a reminder of wartime  history buffs' passions, that is the Cu Chi Tunnel System. This system has many branches connecting to underground hideouts, shelters, and entrances to other tunnels. These tunnels are nationwide and was the base where the Vietnamese mounted their operations of the Tet Offensive in 1968.

We believe we have shown you parts of this incredible destination which will allow you to consider honeymooning in this part of the globe. What's wonderful with this part of the world, is you can combine an array of countries to  your Vietnam plans.  There is Thailand (see our previous blog on Thailand), Camdodia, and other breathtaking and unique countries to give you a trip of a lifetime!

Here await sun-kissed beaches, lush rain forests, and barrier reefs teeming with Technicolor sea life, as well as intriguing cultures immortalized by novelist James Michener, songwriters Rodgers and Hammerstein, and artist Paul Gauguin. The m/s Paul Gauguin takes its name from the French painter who spent the last years of his life in Tahiti. The intimate 332-guest vessel was specifically designed to cruise the South Pacific and sails these storied isles year-round, navigating shallow waters as nimbly as a yacht.
The ship's informal ambience reflects the relaxed nature of the region. Love and romance St. Lucia Style!

St. Lucia….From the moment you arrive till the moment you depart, you will experience every level of romance you would expect on your honeymoon or for your destination wedding. With natural landscapes of gorgeous beaches, miles of unspoiled rainforest, the majestic Piton Mountains and natural waterfalls, St. Lucia promises to make your wedding and/or honeymoon one of the most memorable trips of your life.

Having received the "World's Leading Honeymoon Destination" award for 2002-2004, 2006-2009 and St. Lucia has once again received this award for 2010! This is because this island simply put, is one of the most romantic and beautiful islands you'll ever visit. St. Lucia is the sort of island that travelers to the Caribbean dream about--a small, lush tropical gem that is still relatively unknown. St. Lucia is only 27 miles long and 14 miles wide, with a shape that is said to resemble either a mango or an avocado.

If you have considered doing a destination wedding, St. Lucia is the perfect location! With many resorts fitting everyone’s budgets, saying “I DO” on this beautiful island will be everything you ever dreamed of. With only a 24 hour residency requirement, all of the necessary original documents to obtain a Special Marriage License, you can be husband and wife before you know it. Choosing your wedding location might be a bit more difficult than getting your marriage license. There are so many unique and spectacular locations for you to exchange or renew your vows, the choices are endless. From saying your vows on the beach at sunset, using the iconic Piton Mountains as a stunning backdrop, or possibly standing in the middle of one of the beautiful botanical gardens on island, the whole experience will keep you wanting to come back year after year to celebrate your anniversaries and even renew your vows.

Depending on what kind of activities you are looking to do while on the island, St. Lucia offers something for everyone. Do you like to hike and rock climb? Well, the famous Pitons, offer some of the best hiking and climbing on the island. The Gros Piton, which is stands at 2,461 foot is a challenge for the experienced climber and will definitely be an amazing climb. Formed by a volcanic eruption some 30 million years ago, The Pitons jet out from the deep blue Caribbean Sea and offer some of the best scenery you could ever imagine. Hike up along the volcano and see the active lava bubble from just yards away. Sit and relax in the warm mineral waters and experience a warm mud bath, which is so therapeutic.

In addition to the Pitons, the island has striking golden-sand beaches, where you can enjoy many activities such as windsurfing, boating, diving and snorkeling. You might even be lucky enough to swim with the turtles, which migrate to the island, or possibly even see the dolphins jumping and having fun. Other favorite activities on the island are horseback riding on the beach, golf, zip lining or taking a canopy tour through the rain forest, walking through the gardens, visiting the many local shops and restaurants, and even experience some of the fun local night spots!

As you can see, the island of St. Lucia will offer you everything you possibly can want. Speak to our St. Lucia Specialist who will guide you through all of your honeymoon and/or destination wedding planning.

Hawaiian Romance

All couples have their own honeymoon dream destinations. But ask each one of them to list their top three choices and we can be sure Hawaii will be on that list. That’s because Hawaii and her islands are so diverse, exciting, and breathtaking, they are best experienced together for the first time as husband and wife. Hawaii offers six romantic, beautiful islands. Each of the islands offers various desires all couples are looking for. You can spend the day sharing in adventures from watching the sunrise atop Haleakala in Maui to watching the sunset from the famous Waikiki Beach on the island of Oahu. When the day is done, sip champagne while listening to the tide and watching the moon light the ocean. Then the next day, explore the many beaches and waterfalls, visit a winery, hike the magnificent mountains, snorkel with the fish, take a try at surfing or windsurfing. There are so many surprises Hawaii has to offer, you’ll find yourselves wanting to come back again and again. You’ll see why the special moments of your trip to Hawaii become even more memorable when they’re shared together.

When you arrive in Hawaii, one of the islands you might stop at first is Oahu, home to the famous Waikiki Beach, the USS Arizona, and the best surfing in the South Pacific. On Oahu, Hawaii’s beauty blends with the modern luxuries of today. Swim in the warm waters of world-famous Waikiki one moment, then enjoy the dramatic mountain views of the Nuuanu Pali Lookout another. Watch the surfers on the legendary North Shore by day; then dance the night away in exciting nightlife spots around Honolulu. Get a taste of local flavors in Kapahulu one night; then dine at a Five Diamond restaurant the next. With so much to see and do, you’re never far away from just what you’re looking for on Oahu. Visit the Heart of Hawaii and find the island paradise you’ve been searching for.

Next you definitely want to check out Maui! This island certainly stands apart from the rest of the Hawaiian Islands. It offers adventure, romance, breathtaking scenery, snorkeling and some of the best beaches found anywhere in the islands. If you have only a week to spend in Hawaii, this is the place.

For such a small island, Maui is packed with “leisurely adventures.” Its landscape is incredibly diverse. It is often known as the Valley Island because of the large valley that extends between two volcanoes, Haleakala and Iao. On the Western side of the island there are acres of rainforest with spectacular waterfalls. The other side of the island offers many resorts, shopping, nightlife and so much more. Offshore, the marine life is the best on earth. The island reef is home to hundreds of species and makes this a paradise for divers and snorkelers. Honeymooning December through April, definitely take a boat ride to see the humpback whales crowd the waters off the southern coast. There are so many beaches to explore. From the white sands in West Maui, to the Red Sand Beach (Kaihalulu) to the black sand beaches of Pa’iloa Beach. On the North Shore, Ho’okipa Beach Park is perhaps one of the best places in the world to wind surf, body board or kite surf.

The road to Hana is considered one of the most spectacular drives in all of the Islands. A slow, winding road through a lush paradise, you can go on your own self-guided island tour, at your own pace in a rented car, but be careful, your renter’s insurance might not cover you if you take your car on this route. Our suggestion is to book a tour. The tour will take you to the Hana Ranch, the Seven Sacred Pools; you’ll see the beauty of Haleakala and then stop at the winery.

Once you have explored Maui, take a short flight to the most beautiful island of all, Kauai. This island is the oldest of the four major Hawaiian Islands at more than 6 million years old. Known as “The Garden Island”, the southern and western shores have long, white beaches. There are the majestic, sweeping valleys, such as the Kalalau Valley on the Na Pali Coast and then the famous Fern Grotto, where Elvis filmed “Blue Hawaii”

The most well-known site to visit in Kauai includes the Waimea Canyon and the breathtaking cliffs of the Na Pali Coast. Waimea Canyon, known as “Grand Canyon of the Pacific” stretches 10 miles from Captain James Cook’s famous landing site, in 1778, to Koke’e State Park. This canyon has been the site for a number of movies including Jurassic Park and Raiders of the Lost Ark. In fact, more than two dozen Hollywood movies have been filmed on Kauai!

Hiking trails in the park offer unbelievable views of the canyon and lush “forest” environment. The canyon itself is also accessible for hiking, fishing and camping. Kauai’s Na Pali Coast cliffs are pure, rugged beauty, featuring deep, narrow valleys ending sharply at the sea. Waterfalls, swift-flowing streams, and extensive stone-walled terraces remain on the valley bottoms where ancient, native Hawaiians once lived. To see the entire beauty of this island, we highly suggest you do a helicopter ride. You will never experience anything like it in the world. With its hidden waterfalls and canyons, a helicopter ride is the only way to see the beauty Mother Nature has made!

The Big Island of Hawaii offers some of the best natural landscape than any of the other islands/ Home to the most active volcano in the world, Kilauea, you can actually watch the lava flow at Volcanoes National Park in Kilauea. Of course the lava flow depends on the mood of “Madame Pele” who is the Fire Goddess of Hawaii. The best way to see the island and Mother Nature at work is again in a helicopter. The helicopter will take you right up to the edge of the crater for optimum viewing.

Believe it or not, Kilauea is not the tallest volcano, but it is the most active. If you love to hike, then you should definitely visit Mauna Kea. It is the highest point on the island at 13,796 feet above sea level. And, it is higher than 30,000 feet when measured from its rise on the ocean floor–making it one of the tallest mountains in the world from base to summit. Both the neighboring Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea and have some of the clearest air in the world. As a result, more than two dozen of the world’s finest telescopes are located there.

And, for couples wanting a water experience, you can rent a kayak or go on a guided trip. Paddle atop the waves, skirting awesome cliffs and waterfalls, or snorkel and swim in a calm, protected cove — your choice. Perhaps you’ll see a few spinner dolphins as you paddle across Captain Cook monument. Never been in a submarine? Make this a dramatic first as a couple. Imagine exploring brilliant natural coral reefs, sunken ships, and even downed airplanes — all surrounded by sharks, eels, and exotic turtles. This is an experience you will never forget.

So now that we have given you a sense of what Hawaii and her beautiful islands have to offer, give us a call and let our Hawaii experts assist you with all of your planning. We can arrange all of your flights, hotel accommodations, tours, cruising, whatever you need, we’ll be happy to handle this for you.

Turkish Honeymoon Delight

Romantic Turkey
A honeymoon should be the most memorable trip of a lifetime, one you will remember for years to come. Turkey with its outstanding hotels, beautiful scenery and ancient sites offers you something out of the ordinary. With breathtaking beauty, many historical and archeological sites, and a tradition of hospitality, Turkey has become one of the world’s most popular destinations for honeymooners.

The country’s geography is so diverse, you can experience four different climates in one day. If you’re interested in staying along the shore, that’s not a problem. The country is surrounded by 3 different seas. If you are interested in hiking, mountain climbing, or skiing, the Turkish mountains are perfect for winter or summer vacations. Recently the country has had a tremendous increase in holistic tourism. They have hot springs, healing waters, and muds, which come highly recommended by the medical authorities as a remedy for many diseases. Shop for one of their traditional Turkish hand crafts which could include rugs, ceramics, wood crafting, embroidery, or any of the other amazing crafts found here. Whatever type of experience you are looking for, Turkey surely will not disappoint. Let us introduce you to some of the highlights of this wonderful country.

Shopping at the Bazaar in Istanbul
One of the most famous and well known cities in Turkey is Istanbul. Did you know Istanbul is the only city in the world built on two continents? It lies along the two shores of the Bosphorus which links the Sea of Marmara with the Black Sea. It is Turkey's largest city with a population of approximately over 12 million. Istanbul is also at the heart of the economy of Turkey. The largest companies and banks, the media and advertising agencies all have their headquarters in this city. As you exlore this beautiful city, you will see Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman palaces, mosques, churches, monasteries, monuments, walls and ruins. While it still remains a historical city, it is a vibrant, modern and future-oriented metropolis. Bazaars and ultra-modern shopping centers and department stores, street vendors and stock brokers, old crumbling buildings and skyscrapers coexist, giving this city a multi-faceted outlook and flavor.

Beautiful Izmir
Next, we introduce you to the third largest city in Turkey, Izmir, known as the “Beautiful Izmir”. Located at the start of a long and narrow gulf where you will surely see yachts, passenger ships and gulf streamers its geographical location means that visitors can enjoy a Mediterranean climate, natural beauty, a rich cultural, and historical heritage, not to mention great beaches, thermal waters and spas. In addition, this city boasts a rich cuisine featuring grapes, figs, olives, citrus fruits and seafood. As a lively and cosmopolitan city, it occupies a significant place in Turkey's cultural life with the International Arts Festival and International Fair.

Wonders of Ephesus
Take a drive for approximately one hour, to one of the most important archeological sites you will ever visit, Ephesus. Home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, you can explore the area and see The Temple of Artemis, visit the Virgin Mary’s cottage, where she spent the last years of her life, visit the Church of the Virgin Mary which is also known as one of the seven churches of the Apocalypse. With all of this history, its’ no wonder Ephesus is considered one of the greatest outdoor museums of Turkey.

Bodrum
Bodrum, a location known for its climate, natural beauty, magnificent coves and history, is also a place where modern nightlife allows you to party until the sun comes up. The seaside villages, bays and coves are world-famous and each offers its own charm and custom. As for the city, Bodrum has been the imprint of many cultures and civilizations including the Roman and Byzantine. Some of the sites we would recommend is a visit to Bodrum Castle, originally built by The Knight’s of St. John, it is now were the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology. Take a tour of the beautiful bays and coves where you will swim in water that is all different shades of blue. No matter what type of water experience you are looking for, Bodrum promises not to disappoint.

Ballooning over Cappadocia
Cappadocia is a stunning area of worldly rock formations, subterranean churches, and underground dwellings, some of which are over-whelming. The city was a sanctuary for the early Christians who escaped persecution by living and worshipping underground. Two of the most impressive underground cities are Kaymaklı, which has 8 levels, and Derinkuyu, which reaches down to 60 yards. These underground cities, built by Christians in the 7th century to avoid being persecuted, were created as self-sufficient environments which included bedrooms, kitchens and storage rooms. It is also believed there are an estimated 3000 rock churches in this area, not all of them are open to the public. Besides the archeological beauty of this city, Cappadocia is also famous for its carpet-weaving, wines and the distinctive red pottery of the Avanos area.

Beautiful Antalya in the Turkish Riviera
Last, but not least Antalya, the Turkish Riviera. This area is the most stunning area of Turkey’s Mediterranean Coast. This is a thriving modern city, with a historic centre within the old city walls. This area has been revived in recent years, with many of the wooden Ottoman mansions being restored and turned into boutique hotels. Cars are not allowed on the narrow streets of the old town so it is a good place to soak up the atmosphere around the charming harbor. The city is set high on cliffs, with many of its grandest hotels overlooking the sea on the outskirts of the town. The beach area of Lara, the best beach in the area, is known for its golden sand. Want to head up into the mountains? You can view the most beautiful scenery by visiting the spectacular Düden or Kurşunlu waterfalls.

Sip wine from your balcony under the diamond lit velvet black sky or dance the night away. Combine the isles differently or select one isle to relax and enjoy. We can arrange your dream trip to suit your style and needs – follow us as we give you some insight as to what the islands can offer you!

The Acropolis at night
Athens, the capital of Greece, the city with the most amazing history in the world, a city worshipped by Gods and people, a magical city, and one of the most photographed cities in all of Europe. The climate is one of the best in Europe, with mild winters and very hot summers, ideal for tourism. Take in the marvels of the Acropolis, which is one of the 7 wonders of the modern world. Explore this beautiful city and visit other important archaeological monuments like the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, and the Theatre of Dionysos. Walk along the Plaka and the old neighborhoods, shop at the small intimate shops around the city and experience some of Athens nightlife. Let the city of Athens enchant you and let it be the start of an amazing journey.

Mykonos Harbor
From Athens we can fly to one of the many beautiful islands Greece is known for. Let’s start with Mykonos – this beautiful, cosmopolitan island will not disappoint when it comes to fun in the sun and fun after dark. Wander through the narrow streets lined seeing all of the houses, shops, churches, restaurants and windmills that are immaculately whitewashed, with door frames and window shutters highlighted with splashes of sky blue and jade green. The streets are a maze of narrow, winding alleyways - many only two or four feet wide, overhung with dazzling pink and purple blossoms. On every second doorstep sits a cat, gazing down serenely at passersby. Additionally, Mykonos offers fine dining, beautiful beaches, spectacular sunsets and a notoriously wild night life, clubbing and party scene.

Romantic Santorini
Need a little relaxation after visiting Mykonos, try the island of Santorini. Thought to be the lost continent of Atlantis, this island is known as the jewel of the Aegean. The white washed homes, narrow streets and cafes of Fira cling to the high steep cliff providing the famous panoramic views Santorini is known for. During the day, visit one of the black sandy beaches or sit at a cliff side cafe. By night, visit an authentic Greek nightspot for an unforgettable evening.

Looking to improve your cooking skills? Enjoy the tastes of Santorini. The Greek goddess, Demeter, taught humans how to prepare grain. Draw from her teachings in your cooking class! Learn how to prepare traditional foods using local products. Sample the wines of two local wineries and toast Dionysus, the Greek god of wine! We think you’ll agree with the critics, Santorini’s wines are among the finest in Greece.

Next stop, the renowned island of Crete. This beautiful island is more like a small country, than another Greek island. It’s not just Greece’s largest island, but possibly the most fascinating and diverse. Crete’s remarkable history is obvious across the island, from the ruins of the Minoan Palace of Knossos, known as the home of the mythical Labyrinth of the Minotaur monster and King Minos. Explore the quaint towns, visit old mosques and Byzantine monasteries and travel to the cave that is the legendary birthplace of Zeus.

The goddess Demeter’s influence is again present! Enjoy the tastes of Crete, a hands-on journey through Crete’s culinary traditions. Set in an 18th century farmhouse surrounded by organic gardens, you’ll learn to prepare Cretan dishes. Enjoy your meal with some Cretan wines and cheese tasting.

Since Crete is made of many small provinces, take a tour of beautiful Keramia with its picturesque little villages. Stop at the archaeological site of Aptera. Continue on to the tiny village of Drakona and then along the foot of the White Mountains to the historic village of Therisso. Stop to eat at a wonderful family owned taverna with great views before traveling on to the village of Meskla to see a small chapel with frescoes.

Charming Agios Nikolaos
End your stay in Crete with a visit to Agios Nikolaos, a charming small port town that is truly one of the most picturesque towns in Crete. Nestled in the peaceful Mirabello Bay, the town takes its name from St. Nickolas, the protector of sailors.

Obviously we can go on and tell you all about the other well known islands like Rhodes, Corfu, Patmos, Paros, but we think you should experience them for yourselves. Greece offers you everything you would expect during your honeymoon and/or destination wedding. With romance, passion, and fantasy, classical Greece and her islands await you for your dream come true experience. Our travel specialists have the experience to assist you with all of your planning.
